About Us

NEDITA LLC is the proud importer of the technology and stoves developed by the Italian company Blucomb.

The story behind Blucomb is inspiring and interesting. It all began in 2009 when Professor Alessandro Peressotti from the University of Udine in Northern Italy gathered a group of colleagues and students to discuss the possibility of developing a mobile cooking unit that could also produce charcoal. The target audience was rural families in developing countries who cook on open wood fires indoors and often have impoverished soil around their homes or huts. This device would thus solve the problem of indoor air pollution, and the charcoal produced could be used to improve the soil quality.

The team enthusiastically got to work and developed a cooker named ‘Elsa’ based on the principle of micro-gasification of wood chips. Unfortunately, this ingenious device was very difficult to integrate into the target groups, mainly in Africa, because cooking and small-scale farming are deeply intertwined with various cultural rituals and processes. These cannot simply be adapted by a group of outsiders.

The inventors realized, however, that they had devised a revolutionary way to burn pellets right in the heart of the global pellet stove industry in northern Italy! This technology could heat homes with an unprecedented clean burn and very robust construction, solving all the common problems that conventional pellet stoves face.

In 2012, part of the team founded BluComb and began perfecting the technology for home heating, among other applications. A few years later, the first burners were introduced by local stove builders in large, handmade stoves. The beauty of the technology concept is that it can be easily integrated into wood stoves. As a result, the threshold to turn this concept into reality was low. Several leading companies in the industry eventually showed great interest in this technology and began cooperating with BluComb, employing the Blucomb burners in their stoves. But the team realized right from the start that the real potential for the company lay in developing high-end stoves themselves, for the larger market.

In 2012, a segment of the team established BluComb and began refining the technology for home heating, among other uses. Two years later, the first burners were introduced in large, handmade stoves. The beauty of this technology lies in its easy integration into wood stoves, making the transition from concept to reality relatively simple. Several leading companies in the industry eventually showed great interest in the technology and started collaborating with BluComb, incorporating BluComb burners into their stoves. However, the team quickly realized that the true potential for the company was in developing high-end stoves themselves for the larger market.

After years of perfectioning the technology and how it can be integrated into heat-accumulation stoves, Blucomb was ready to introduce the best soapstone masonry heaters on the market. Some of these can burn wood and pellets in the same stove. Blucomb is experiencing a rapid, but controlled, growth.

The products are sustainable. They heat by burning biomass, a renewable fuel, with the lowest possible emission of potentially harmful substances. Furthermore, the soapstone from which the stove is made is mined and processed in sustainable ways, and the whole manufacturing process is regulated by rigorous quality processes. The result is a truly beautiful and robust product that will be a delight to the eyes and provide pleasurable heat for many decades.

Doing good for the environment is part of Blucomb’s DNA. This can be demonstrated by the location of the R&D lab and office. It is situated in Torrate in Northern Italy, where ultra-clean water eternally springs from the ground, pressed up by layers of rock from the nearby Dolomites.

On these grounds, owned by one of the founders of Blucomb, stands a thousand-year-old tower that has served for defense during numerous invasions and wars. This tower was completely dilapidated and the founder renovated it to take care of this unique landmark. He also turned large parts of his property into a nature reserve, at his own expense, so that nature could have space to thrive. The area is home to rare animals, birds, as well as flowers and insects.

At NEDITA our goal is to provide the best sustainable heating solution for the Northern American market, based on the demands and regulations that exist here in our market. Our stoves must not only look beautiful but also deliver truly comfortable heat in a sustainable manner. Blucomb develops models especially for our markets, such that they fulfill exactly those demands.

NEDTIA LLC is the exclusive distributor of the Blucomb heaters in the US and Canada.
